The mould

Fascination model making: Technology enthusiasts big and small all over the world build models of ships, aeroplanes or vehicles. With great attention to detail and painstaking detail work, they bring the models to life. Most important criterion is the lifelike replication of the large machines. Once the first successful starter sets have been produced, the ambition is aroused to give the models their own touch. Schink’s offers the ambitious model maker everything around the car – but on a scale of 1:8 or 1:14.5.

Since the models should correspond to the original and also be roadworthy, the right tyres are essential. The specially made mould for the customer corresponds to an original tyre for trucks on a scale of 1:8. We also fabricate a narrow tyre for smaller models in 1:14.5 scale.

Schink’s Modellbau has been a customer from the very beginning. Ever since the FIT pressing plant from Neu-Isenburg was taken over by Conradi+Kaiser in 1996, model tyres have been produced in the company’s own vulcanisation plant in Kleinmaischeid. During vulcanisation, new rubber sheets are liquefied at high temperature and placed in a mould. Bonds are formed between rubber molecules. Cross-linking of sulphur bridges within the material gives the resulting rubber its well-known elastic properties. While car tyres are significantly more complex and additionally enter into connections with steel and textile elements, model tyres from Conradi+Kaiser are made exclusively from new rubber. In order to guarantee consistently high quality, we have known our suppliers as well as our customers for many years.

Whether it is a large-volume vase made of rubber granulate or a small model tyre made of new rubber – at Conradi+Kaiser you benefit from customised mould making. This ensures that the final product is tailored to your needs and corresponds exactly to your expectations. The parameters required for the product can be optimally realised with the appropriate rubber compounds and shore hardness.
